Before the Natixis Cup was played, an official squad announcement was organised to add to the high level of event taking place. It also gave Rugby enthusiasts a chance to see who exactly would be gracing the field.

Stade Toulousain v Racing Metro , Saturday 9th November. These two exciting and well know Top 14 French Rugby clubs played the first ever league exhibition match in Hong Kong and brought with them some of the best players in world Rugby to the delight of the Hong Kong crowds. During the week, both teams were able to coach at Rugby camps with the local kids with the aim of including the HK rugby community as much as possible. We also organized a training session between Toulouse and Valley RFC which gave an experience of a lifetime to many of these players based in Hong Kong. On top of that, the two teams participated in well organized PR events as well as press conferences and it was all finished with a gala dinner allowing the teams to share a wine and dine experience with enthused Rugby fanatics.
The whole event was a huge success and was the start of Sport Inside Asia here in Hong Kong. In fact, Hong Kong is a place where Rugby has a strong history and it is one of the most popular sports available to locals and expats alike. The success of this cup just showed that Hong Kong is a passionate place for Rugby and it is definitely a place that will grow in the future. Currently, the commercial rugby scene in Hong Kong is dominated by the IRB Hong Kong sevens which attracts fans and players from all around the globe. There was also the 15 a side match between The Lions and the Ba Ba’s before the tour in Australia began and it was also the host of the Bledisloe cup between Australia and New Zealand in 2012. With Rugby growing in the area, Sport Inside Asia hopes to continue to build strong links with teams from around the World and Hong Kong. The success of this Cup was also demonstrated in giving important funds to ‘Room to read’, an organisation focusing on the development of children predominantly through literacy and gender equality.

Whilst Racing Metro were in Hong Kong to take part in the Natixis Cup, various camps were also organised to involve the Rugby community of Hong Kong. Kids of various ages were coached by the stars of Racing Metro giving them an incredible experience.

During the Natixis Cup in Hong Kong, Toulouse had a joint session with local Hong Kong side Valley RFC. The experience proved invaluable allowing Valley an insight into how a Top 14 side trains.

During the Hong Kong wine and dine festival, members of UBB Grand Crus were hosted at an evening to promote their brand in Hong Kong. Alongside Valley RFC, the event was a great way for UBB Grand Crus to present their ethos and raise money at the same time to send two young players from Valley RFC to Bordeaux to train with UBB and experience all the region has to offer when it comes to their famous wines.

Thursday the 26th March proved to be an enjoyable night at the renaissance hotel in Wan Chai as Rugby enthusiasts and legends alike were present at the Societe Generale Gala dinner leading into the 40th Hong kong Sevens.
Christian Cullen ,Nick Farr-Jones and Thomas Castagnede were present to recall stories from their playing days as well as mingle with local Rugby fans in a great setting.
As well as a lovely three course meal, guests were able to get photos with the players and were treated to some exceptional wine sponsored by Chateau Calon-Ségur.

Sport inside Asia were recently in charge or organizing and managing the UBB/GaveKal team at the Hong Kong tens. With players coming from far parts of the world, it created a strong and diverse team that performed well on the pitch. working with UBB and GaveKal simultaneously allowed Sport Inside Asia to provide a worthy contender at this year’s tournament.
